Lely High Hires New Football Coach

The Trojans, an A‑rated school known for their culture of excellence and achievement, are excited to welcome a proven leader with extensive experience, a championship background, and a strong commitment to developing student‑athletes both on and off the field.

Coach Nieboer joins Lely High School from Liberty Christian School in Argyle, Texas, where he served as Defensive Line Coach and was part of the 2024 State Championship team. With more than 25 years of coaching experience, Coach Nieboer has built a reputation for excellence, player development, and competitive success.

Throughout his career, Coach Nieboer has coached 13 All-District players, seven All-State players, and numerous student-athletes who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level. His players have earned opportunities at prestigious programs including West Virginia University, the University of Miami, Texas Tech, Colorado, Army, UCLA, Oklahoma, Texas State, LSU, Navy, Stephen F. Austin, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Michigan.

Coach Nieboer played college football at Ohio Northern University and the University of Rochester. He earned his undergraduate degree in Spanish and holds a master’s degree in Sport Management from Liberty University, combining academic achievement with a deep understanding of athletic leadership.

Coach Nieboer and his wife, Katelyn, have been married for 15 years and are the proud parents of two children: Naaman (9) and Philippa (4). The entire Nieboer family is enthusiastic about joining the Lely High School community.

“I am extremely honored to be joining the Lely family and to bring my own family to be a part of such an awesome community,” said Coach Nieboer. “I can’t wait to get there and get started building lifelong relationships within our school and athletics programs.”

Lely High School looks forward to the energy, experience, and leadership Coach Nieboer brings to the football program and anticipates an exciting new chapter for Trojan football.
